From the recording Give'em What They Want

While touring in Europe with Stephanie Urbina Jones, we added a video shoot on our last day before returning to the US. After a long day of filming, a few of the folks who had been in the video invited us over to a bar that one of them owned. The rest is history (or at least, it's recounted in the song).
It only seemed right to have Stephanie sing harmony, since she was witness to it all; and Josh Hunt played drums.

Last Night in Barcelona (3:43)
--Patterson Barrett ©2017 (BMI) Criminal Tunes

My last night in Barcelona after a long stay
We were invited out to a little bar called Tekila spelled with a “K”
The day was long, the night was hot, but we went anyway
I could not speak the language so I grabbed a guitar and I started to play

And there was music and everybody sang and danced with each other
Singing words I did not understand
My head was swimming in a sea of liquid dreams
My last night in Barcelona

They offered me drink, and then they offered me one more
And before I knew what was happening, I’d had another four
The room began to spin a bit but in a pleasant way
I gathered up my courage, I stood up to sing and they all started to sway

And there was music and everybody sang and danced with each other
Singing words I did not understand
My head was swimming in a sea of liquid dreams
My last night in Barcelona

And they sang a song I knew so well
But I’d never heard the words before

*A la novia que yo tengo, tequila le digo yo
Pues cuando le doy un beso, borracho me siento yo
Y como quema, pero es tan Buena
Te pides otra,,casi sin respiración
 ¡Tequila!

And there was music and everybody sang and danced with each other
Singing words I did not understand
My head was swimming in a sea of liquid dreams
My last night in Barcelona
My last night in Barcelona
My last night in Barcelona

*(roughly)
I have a bride, Tequila I call her
Because when I kiss her, I feel drunk
And it burns, but it feels so good
You ask for another, almost breathless
Tequila!
